The notches and grooves in Bedsole's oars sculptures weave mysterious narratives about the hands that rowed them – their individual histories mixing with the artist's experience in intricate layers of paint, texture, fabric, found paper and poetry. They elicit the phenomenon of memory and the dynamic between the objects and experiences – those that anchor us to our past and those that liberate us to let go. With poeticism and concentrated emotional potency, Raine Bedsole’s sculptures and works on paper speak directly to the human heart. The boats, oars, bird’s wings and other recurring motifs are expressed in a language not limited to earthly tongues and time periods. Nautical imagery that informs the artist's work harkens to the Egyptian barques that ferried souls into the afterlife Norse longboats embodied with poignancy and romance Native American canoes and the raft – that rescues us from harm, delivers us to safety. We had the pleasure to see some very delicate and explorative art by some of Veroniques artist friends and the featured Korean artist Hye Shin, who works with textil and paper elements.Evocative, haunting and serene, Raine Bedsole's art whispers in the timeless language of mythology and symbolism. Featuring a Korean Artist and several French artists in Winter Park A Vernissage and the Finissage are the two official days for the gallery show, but visits of this beautiful white home and gallery are welcome in between by appointment. Regularly she presents new artists besides her rather steady exhibition. She brought over many of the delicate art works from her artists friends in France and she and her husband transformed their new house into a space that served as a gallery and as a home. When moving from France to Winter Park in Florida she finally fulfilled the dream of establishing a gallery in the new house near Orlando. When moving from Paris to the South of France she became very good friends with many artists. Veronique Benouaich has maintained and nourished her dream of a gallery of her own. So when I heard about Gallery “Art at Home” I was very keen to see it and meet the people who have the courage and spirit to do it in real! That would be very convenient for me as an artist, but it was more a thought than a plan. I have been venturing the idea to make our home a place to feature exhibitions time by time, to make it an event gallery.
